Jessica’s Birthday

Image
It’s official!  Our 6th child turned 4 yesterday!  We treat birthdays as a special thing around here so she got to pick her breakfast of peanut butter toast and craisins, a lunch of mac-n-cheese, and a dinner of fish and broccoli.  She had a Nothing Bundt Cake, which is our theme for birthday cakes this year, and vanilla ice cream.  She had a dolphin themed party and opened gifts.  She got to pick what to do all day, which was basically to play and watch TV.  Finally, she got a dinner out, which was Mader’s German Restaurant up in Milwaukee, which we did last Sunday.   Here’s the pics!  Milwaukee downtown  It started snowing these huge flakes yesterday and it was 42 out!  With God all things are possible! She is so full of life!

YES day

Image
Last Saturday we had a yes day!  We stole the idea from the movie with the same name.  The movie was cute, well the first half hour of it, and so we thought we’d give it a try.  If you are unfamiliar, it just means that whatever the kids asked, we had to say yes.  BUT there were ground rules....... And if you are like my husband, you’ll mentally correct me on my “square mile radius” because I guess there is no such thing.  Well, he verbally corrected me.   I was a little anxious Friday night and Saturday morning, I have to say.  I had no idea what they had planned.  They had 5 envelopes with 5 different activities for the day....... First up, they got to choose 10 random ingredients and we all made breakfast as a family.  I forgot to take a picture of that, but here’s our kitchen after we cleaned up.  Lol We had a huge fruit salad, bacon, and eggs.  Pretty harmless so far!   Next up, beach day and sandwiches from Leno’s.  That was great, except for it was 50 and windy so it was chilly

Ryan’s allergies

The sun is shining here today, which is appreciated after a pretty wet weekend.  We’ve got lawn care over doing some spring yard work so we are all excited about that.  It’s looking good.   Saturday, Ryan and I went off on an adventure to the allergist.  A few months back, he was peeling shrimp and his forearms broke out in hives.  This was unusual, as he loves shrimp and had never had a problem with it.  His pediatrician wanted him to get skin testing done.  Poor guy sat with the various panels on his back as he broke out in huge hives to the things he reacted to and he couldn’t even itch it.  He did great, though, even though he was slightly nervous.  Come to find out he is allergic to trees (maple and birch), ragweed, grasses, dust, and cats.   He did not react to shellfish so in a few weeks we are headed back for an oral food challenge test where he will eat shrimp in the office to see if he reacts to it.  He has really been hoping and praying that he can still eat what he love

Happy Easter!

We enjoyed the weekend!  HE IS RISEN!  And the end of Easter Day, the sunset God painted in the skies so perfectly, was beautiful.   It was a somewhat busy weekend with grocery shopping, Target shopping, and getting my hair done on Saturday.  Yesterday we were very thankful to be able to go to church, have an egg hunt for the kiddos, and then off to a new to us park in Antioch.  We had planned on eating at Captain Porky’s, but they were closed.  Then The Shanty, but closed.  So after much googling we ended up at Oliverii  North.  It was a little fancy and probably not a place we would have chosen to take the kids, but options were limited on Easter and we didn’t know it was fancy till we got there.  The staff was very welcoming though and the food was delicious.  The kids did really well, too, but we did distract with phones, which we don’t usually do when we go out to eat.  The kids also really enjoyed the food and being somewhere that was fine dining.  Sean and I really enjoyed the
